This site is dedicated to the memory of Margaret Tyler.

Margaret was born in Tipperary, Eire and was the only daughter of Josie & Terry Starr. She had two brothers, the eldest being the late Pat & her younger brother John. The family moved to England when her father found work in Coventry when Margaret was 10 and they lived with their family in Birmingham before later moving to Manchester. When she left school, Margaret started in the clothing trade as a machinist and soon met Terence at work, who became her husband when she was aged 18. The couple had 3 children, Maggie, Sue & Michael and lead a happy family life until Terence became ill at the age of 43. Sadly Terence died at the age of 46, leaving Margaret with a young family to support. Margaret provided a secure and happy family environment for her children and grandchildren throughout her life. She was a very proud nana who was great fun to be with, the children knew they could always rely on her for anything but also for an honest opinion whether they liked the answer or not. After a long gap of nearly 20 years she had a new grandson, William, and this made her so happy as she had waited so long for Michael to have children. Many know Margaret for her sewing skills, which were second to none. Margaret worked hard all her life and was a great example to us all. She was a remarkable lady who took great pleasure in helping others. In the weeks towards the end of her life she continued to show strength, grace and dignity. Margaret did not complain once although she was in unbelievable pain and looked forward to seeing her friends and enjoyed the company of all who visited. Sadly, Margaret died from lung cancer, aged 75 years young, on 20th April 2013. The saving grace was that her illness was very short although excruciatingly painful, only 7 weeks from diagnosis to death. For her family, this was too quick and we still cant believe the speed in her deterioration. We cherish the final weeks we had with her together with our lifetime of memories.
